Dr Markus Barth
Owner and operator of Animals First Clinic graduated from Leipzig University in Germany in 1996. Dr Barth also completed externships at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph, Iowa State University and Oregon State University. Dr Barth has been practising for 22 years. He has two dogs named Jackson and Bourbon and a cat named Moses
Dr Renee Scott
Graduated from Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Since graduating Dr Scott has worked 2 years at a mixed animal practice in New Zealand, 1 year at mixed animal practice in Pincher Creek, 4 years in Emergency and Critical Care clinic in Calgary, and 2 years at a small animal practice in Calgary. “Along this journey I have acquired an Kangal named Stryder, Gizzy the Jack Russell and three horses named Annie, Jesse and Trigger.” Dr. Scott joined Animals First team September 2013.
Animal Health Technologists
Animals First Clinic is comprised of veterinary technologists who are graduates of an accredited Veterinary Technical College and are members in good standing of the Alberta Association of Animal Health Technologists.
Animal Health Technologist and graduated from NAIT Fairview in 2005 with honors. Erin was one of our original team members with AFC in November 2007. She has 2 dogs, Diesel and Jade, and a couple cuddly cats!
Animal Health Technologist graduated in 2008 from NAIT Fairview with honors. She currently resides outside of Grande Prairie with three cats (Figaro, Frankie and Beans).
Animal Health Technologist graduated from Fairview College in 2001. Deserae has a cat named Oreo.
Senior Animal Health Technologist & Manager of Animals First Clinic. Lisa graduated from SIAST – Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology in 2000. Lisa was our first employee and is a great asset to the team. Lisa has three cats and one dog.
Tara graduated from Fairview in 2012 as a Animal Health Technologist. Tara went to college for other careers in the past, but her love for animals made her choose this path! She has one dog at home; a Belgian Shepherd named Mya.
Rae graduated in 2010 from Lakeland College in Vermillion, Alberta. She grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan and has a passion for all animals but mainly horses. Rae has 2 dogs; Bo and Austrailan Shephed and Atka a husky mix. She also has a cat who was adopted from the SPCA named Zahra.
Anje joined Animals First Clinic in 2014 upon graduation from Olds College. Anje grew up in Utah USA. She has 5 dogs – Dakota, Jasper, Cricket, Tucker and Gryffin. Anje also has 3 cats Angel, Tory and Ty.
Bridget joined out team from Edmonton. She graduated in 2015 from Lakeland College. Bridget has one dog named Snoopy.
Jelicia graduated in 2018 and joined Animals First after graduation. Jelicia has one cat named Shady who is 17 years old. Jelicia has 3 Corn snakes – Severus, Peine and Salazar. She has a Ball Python named Nagini, 2 dogs named Libby and Black and numerous other rescue animals and fish.
Lisa graduated from Fairview in 1995. She has 2 cats Rose and Bud and 2 dogs Toby and Lucy.
Administrative and Clinic Assistant
Vanessa has come to us from Edmonton where she worked at “Off the Leash Pet Care” and a wildlife shelter. Vanessa has 3 dogs – Akuma a Jack Russell Corgie cross, Jack aka Meathead a Pitbull Mastiff cross and Jeffery a Doberman . Mortimer and Dennis are two cats she rescued. Vanessa also has Koa a Blue Tongue Skink.
Bailey began with Animals First as a volunteer and join the team officially in 2017. Bailey has one dog named Cheeka. Bailey has applied to become a Veterinarian and will pursue that career in the near future.
Samantha has joined us from British Columbia and has a pug mix named Arlo. Samantha plans to become a Registered Veterinary Technician in the future.
Heather is part owner of Animals First Clinic and the Business Manager. She comes to the pet care industry with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Alberta 1994 and a Masters of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University in 2003. Heather is responsible for Human Resources, Bookkeeping and other duties around the clinic.
