Veterinary Guidance for Pet Nutrition
Providing your dog, cat, or exotic pet with a diet that meets all of their nutrition needs can help them stay healthy throughout their life.
Based on your pet's age, breed, species, and health status, their dietary needs and preferences can change significantly. Specialized diet plans can be used to manage specific nutritional needs and health conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, and joint pain.
At Animals First Clinic, our team is happy to help pet parents navigate the vast array of pet foods available on the market and determine the right food – and the right quantity – to feed their beloved companions. We also make it easy to purchase all the products your pet needs through our in-house shop and our online store.
Nutrition Counselling at Animals First Clinic
We’ll start by conducting a physical exam and a health analysis to determine your furry friend’s specific nutritional needs. We'll then use that information to develop a custom food plan to meet those needs.
As your dog or cat ages, their nutritional needs will change. It's important to have them reassessed periodically. Changes to your pet's nutritional needs can be assessed during annual appointments, where a physical exam will be performed, along with diagnostic testing.
Whenever your pet's nutritional requirements change, we will revisit their treatment plan and make changes to ensure that your pet's diet is optimized to meet their specific needs.
We may recommend feeding your companion a prescription diet product if we feel they will have added benefits for your pet that regular products do not.
